The Petals of the Underworld

Asia Lee Campbell

The dance between light and dark —a journey through themes of identity, chaos, and duality. A reflection of beauty and contradictions of existence, drawing inspiration from the mythical Greek goddess Persephone. This poem weaves together elements of nature and personal struggle, inviting readers to embrace the wild storm within.

Light and dark,

Bloom and decay,

Floral and thorns in disarray

The world seems the only stable thing in my life,

While I, myself, am the opposite of stable life

I find new faces, new hearts, new minds within me,

Each discovery so firm, assuring me it's the true me

Sometimes I soar high through the clouds,

Sometimes I clip wings, lost in the shrouds

Strained by the darkness, at times I feel lost,

Yet in those same shadows, I find warmth at all costs

I met a soul who reflects my plight,

Yet wears her contradictions, a crown in the light

Innocent and regal,

Vital and fatal,

Delicate and powerful

Love Slowly Kills by Adrian Borda

The goddess leaves a trail of roses in bloom,

Beautiful yet bloody, they whisper her doom

She offers a pomegranate, tempting and bitter,

A taste that lingers, a truth that won't wither

Persephone, floral maiden in bloom,

Persephone, queen who embraces the gloom

If Persephone can be both,

So shall I, with unwavering growth

I am the sun and the moon,

I am silence and sound,

I am beauty and rage

In chaos, I’m found

It’s not order that makes me feel whole,

But wild, untamed, the rawness I hold.

The storm inside, my true, vibrant home,

In chaos, I thrive, no longer alone
