The significance of world languages
Sterling Academy's diverse language offerings, including rarely-found Latin and Chinese, attract online students seeking unique learning opportunities. Teachers like Ms. Heilman and Ms. Su emphasize the benefits: career advantages, cultural immersion, and even SAT/ACT score boosts. Students' passion for languages like Chinese III shows this department's positive influence.
The hour of code event
Sterling Academy's annual Hour of Code event happens December 7th, 4pm EST! Learn coding basics (language behind software, websites, etc.) in a fun, educational hour with teacher Mr. Maddox. Open to all grades, register by November 30th through your "Homeroom" course group "Hour Of Code — 2017."
Sterling Academy Starts Student-Driven Website
Principal J Lee Harshbarger, inspired by student Connor's suggestion, built a new website with a dedicated team of student volunteers! Connor, a self-taught coder and designer, led the tech side, while writers like Sophia, Leona, and Zoe shared diverse perspectives from across the US and 13 countries. This website aims to connect students and showcase Sterling Academy's unique global community.
