The Hour of Code
By: Melody Hansford
Technology is changing everything, everywhere, all over the world. From the way we communicate to the way we learn, technology is rapidly changing our world.
The Hour of Code is an exciting event that will allow students to learn the basics of coding, which can lead to an even more fruitful career in tech and other fields.
This event will be hosted by Mr. Cory Maddox, who teaches coding here at Sterling Academy. If one wishes to learn more about this event and how to save your place, contact Mr. Maddox and he will assist you.
“Coding isn’t as hard as people think,” Mr. Maddox states. “By participating in this event, this could hopefully encourage students to pursue coding or at least know that it’s an option.”
The Hour of Code will take place on December 6th, at 6:30 PM EST. Please don’t delay when you are signing up for the event as the deadline is November 30th.
When a pupil learns how to code, they gain a valuable skill. The skill of coding can be used in almost any industry and is highly sought after by employers and admission officers alike.
Architecture, web design, medicine, engineering, are just a few examples of the industries affected by the wave of technology, and that continue to benefit from the knowledge of coding.
“Everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think.” – Steve Jobs
